Trails are an on going series of short melodic pieces, each written after taking a hike or walk. They are intended to function as a melodic counterpart to my other ongoing series The Chords In My Life. This collection, Trails (2019-2022), was realized on pedal steel guitar by Matt Sargent. additionally, I have gathered field recordings of the Eaton Canyon Nature Center in Pasadena to give an idea of what some of these hikes were like. The field recordings also function as a narrative showing the increased rainfall over the period of a few weeks in California eventually leading to a temporary flooding of the trail (pictured as the cover of this album).
