Resonance Ecology is a system that combines and processes field recordings from disparate locations to create a new surreal ecosystem. The track moves from one place to another, highlighting (dis)connections between locations in their weather, culture, and topology. Each realization of the piece is different, bringing the listener on a unique journey through real and imagined soundscapes that may never be heard in the same way again.

In Ecosystem [351], the listener begins in an imagined forest with the birds of the Westfjords and the insect choruses of the Chihuahuan Desert interacting with the dull hum of an urban highway not far away. Soon a light rain emerges, before bringing the listener along the side of a stream accompanied by a particularly persistent bird. The listener emerges from the forest in a quiet fishing village on the Beagle Channel in Patagonia, but memories of the forest rainstorm unnaturally echo all around. The sound of a new pier being constructed reverberate over the mountains long after the village has faded from view. As the listener continues along the channel, the water slowly rises around them, immersing them in the sounds of the channel and underwater life. Just before sinking into nothing, a wind sweeps in from the north and brings the listener to a quiet grove in Texas. Enveloped in an insect chorus, the listener returns to the silence that began their journey.
